Frieda River Limited welcomes donation from charity partner

Frieda River Limited has welcomed a donation of six boxes of clothes and stationery supplies from QueenPads Founder Ms Anne Shirley Korave.

The charity group was moved to action after the QueenPads founder and her team visited the remote community of Sokamin last year as part of menstrual health promotion campaign targeting remote Frieda River landowner communities.

“Sokamin was one of the villages where I stayed overnight. It is a very remote community with no airstrip infrastructure. People had to walk very long distances to go to school or access the market,” Ms Korave said.

“I was touched by the villager’s generosity and I hope that children from Sokamin will benefit from donations that were made by friends and supporters of QueenPads.”

Frieda River Project Director Phil McCormack said that Frieda River Limited is committed to supporting local communities and is pleased to partner with organisations such as QueenPads to make a positive difference in Frieda River communities.

“This donation from QueenPads aligns with our commitment to sustainable development and living our corporate value of care,” he said.

“It supports our efforts to be a force for good and help women in local communities advance beyond gender-based roles. We understand that menstrual health is not just a matter of ensuring access to menstrual products and resources, it is a matter of respecting human dignity and rights.

“As part of a broader focus on the needs of women, we approached QueenPads last year to deliver a highly successful menstrual health campaign to remote landowner communities.

“Following that week-long visit, we decided to continue supporting QueenPads by buying menstrual products and supplying them to local primary schools.”

The boxes have been shipped to the Frieda River camp and will be distributed to Sokamin villagers in the coming weeks by Frieda River Limited’s community affairs team.
